Hi, everybody! After revealing the title and logo design several months ago in this newsletter, I’ve been meaning to share more about my horror western comic. While the Comics Book Club discusses Cyclopedia Exotica, enjoy this further look at The Passion of St. Alban of the West!
This is one of my favorite comics projects that I’ve been developing for a while. The Passion of St. Alban of the West is a horror western that combines Christian iconography and American mythology to create something wholly original. It’s my biggest collaboration so far with my CyberSync team of David Escobar on art and Buddy Beaudoin on letters. The first printing of this introductory issue includes a 12-page story titled “Bad Exorcism” with a four-page backup story with art by Federico Peters titled “The Serpent.” I’m hoping for this to be a long-form series someday with multiple single issues and storylines.
Here’s the cover with art by David, credits by Buddy, and the logo by Winston Gambro. It features characters and designs from the climax of “Bad Exorcism.”
Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the physical proof on the table during my first-ever comic book signing. I’m happy to share a closer look here. For the second printing, I’m working on another four-page preview story with yet another artist, and I’m looking forward to sharing more about that in the future.
As a bonus, here’s the inside front cover designed by Buddy. I knew I wanted to incorporate a quote from the Bible as an epigraph, and I found the perfect pair of verses to highlight the themes of the stories included and the comic as a whole. Buddy chose the perfect single panel of David’s art.
Let me know what you think in the comments! This won’t be the last look you’ll get of this project and I’m very excited. Feel free to share this post to spread the word about The Passion of St. Alban of the West. Thanks again for everything!
Ooh cool!
Exciting!
